I've now compared the changes and personally feel like the second version of this newspaper looks better and more fulfilling for the reader. I printed off both copies to ask for opinions from different people in different age groups and they also had the same view and commented on the extra colour that i've added and the fact that the grey, red, and white contrast each other nicely.
The heading of my newspaper still seemed abit dull. I looked at other newspaper and they seem to have made theirs alot more interesting by adding symbols, such as bullet points and arrows. I decided to put and white arrow next to the news heading which seem more interesting.
I have now added in all the weather symbols onto the page, the weather is very similar each day therefore the cloud fitted each day. I also decided that and extra heading was needed therefore I added a 'inside' heading because I found that most of the newspaper I looked at had included this to give the reader even more of an insight to what else was in the newspaper and where to find it as an extra to the information on the front page, the heading needed something else to make it stand out so I decided to add a red background to see if that did the trick. It now makes the page look alot more appealing and less boring with all the blacks and grey and 'dull' colours used.
This is one of the main weather symbols I have created for my weather collumn. I created this cloud on photoshop simply by using the pencil tool. I had to make sure that the line was thick enough for readers to see. I also made it slightly 'cartoonish' in order to make it seem abit more 'fun'.
I've decided to have heading which the text white and the background box grey, I decided to do this because it goes with the magazines etho's and housestyle. I've made sure that i've kept the grey background with white headings constant in the weather collumn in order to keep with the newspapers style. I've created boxes in which I need to add weather symbols such as clouds or rain or the text 'clear'. This is enabled the reader to understand the weather in abit more detail and also makes it alot more aesthetically pleasing.
I have now started work on my second page of my newspaper. First of all I looked at other newspaper and realised they had margins again on the second page that are different to the front page therefore Indesign helped me add margins and collumns to guide me, I ensured that I left margin larger than the right margin and the top margin larger than the bottom to ensure it had the professional newspaper look. I've also started to add a header for my second page and made sure I included things such as the page number, the newspaper's website and most importantly the date. I made sure I included these because by looking at example local newspapers they all seemed to include them which made it apparent that I needed to place them on my newspaper. I've also started to add a weather collumn. Due to this local newspaper being based in portsmouth I made sure the weather included things such as the sailing forecast and high and low tides because Portsmouth is known for it's navy/sailing background therefore the local readers would find it extremely useful and interesting to help them on whether they want to go sailing etc.

I've now made the finishes touches to the front page of my newspaper. I've added page numbers for the stories to enabled the reader to know exactly where the story they want to read is in the newspaper to save them from the hassle of searching through and realized while looking at other newspapers it's one of the key elements included on local newspapers and newspapers in general. I've also decided to make the 'Party goes with a bang' headline a lot bigger, it now stands out a lot more and is the first thing that the reader is drawn to.

I've now made some changes to my newspaper front cover. While looking at various other local newspapers such as the news I realized that most newspapers have a margin around the outside around the edge and also how the bottom margin is slightly bigger than the top and also how the right hand margin is larger than the left hand margin so i needed to make sure i sized them right in order to make it look more professional and like an actual newspaper that could be sold in the shops, so on indesign i managed to add some margins on my newspaper quite easily although this meant i had to re-size everything on my newspaper and make the text, headlines and pictures smaller. I also decided that the headlines I have for the  sub-stories didn't really make the picture and could be seen as mis-leading. For example the picture of a student wiping the board didn't seem like the student was on strike so i therefore changed the headline from 'student strikes' to 'highest college applicants ever' because i felt like it fitting the photograph better. I also had the same issue with the weather story about the snow. The headline for this was 'snow chaos' and when looking at the photograph there was no chaos at all and it looked like peaceful snow that wasn't really an issue so i changed the headline to 'The big freeze' to ensure that it matches the photo which it now does. On the showbiz section luckily the headline matched the photograph but it 'Pixie Portsmouth' doesn't really make sense, it doesn't explain why her name has been put next to the word Portsmouth and what she was doing there so i decided to change the headline to 'Pixie plays Portsmouth' to give the headline a bit more detail for the reader. I also decided to change the picture of Pixie Lott because I felt like it was a much better quality picture compared to the one that was put there originally.
